Yep, hatchbacks are extremely popular in Europe, especially because they are usually mounted with weak engines,
and most of the cars there have engine volume 1,4L gasoline and 1,9L diesel with 60-70kW (80-94 horsepower),
thus average consumption turbodiesel car gets around 40mpg, however people are still driving faster there than over here,
even though they have lower consumption and much weaker cars...
